Newhall’s Old Town District gets a New Dance Venue!

A former 1940s movie house, the current American Legion Post 507 is home to the Santa Clarita Valley’s newest hotspot for live music and dancing.

The historic building shares the parking lot at the Old Town Newhall Library at Railroad and Lyons Avenues in Old Town Newhall. Here, the New Club 507 hosts a lively mix of Blues Jams, classic Rock ‘n Roll groups, Big Bands, and Rockabilly bands all playing danceable favorites. Free dance classes are often provided to help beginners and advanced dancers keep busy on the dance floor.

The New Club 507 has free parking, a full bar, ample table seating, catered food offerings and a super-friendly crowd of music lovers and dancers.

The New Club 507 is located adjacent to the Newhall main library building in Old Town Newhall at 24527 Spruce Street (at 11th Street). Take Lyons Avenue east from the I-5 or Newhall Avenue then Railroad Avenue from the 14 Freeway.

We bring in bands for swing dancers. Swing bands, Western swing, Country Swing, Blues, Jump Blues, Gypsy Jazz, Rockabilly, 1950s Rock, Big Band. Our lesson at 4:15 is always geared toward how to apply the swing dance skills we have to other music. Lindy, WCS, East Coast Swing, Balboa, Foxtrot, Jive, Cha-Cha — we even do line dances at the band break.

Do you purchase tickets at door? Can anyone attend or do you need to be a member? Inquiring about Blues Jam, Feb 18th. Is this a 21 and older event?

Jenny, the BLUES JAM is a donation-only event at this time. Anyone can attend — any age — you do not have to be a member. The music is usually some of the best blues I’ve heard, and a number of blues dancers are starting to find it as well.
