Atomic Ballroom Irvine is one of the cornerstone Swing dance venues of Orange County! This venue is attended by dancers of a variety of skill levels.
Atomic hosts Balboa night on Tuesdays and DJ’d Swing dances on Fridays from 8:30-11:55PM, plus other special events.
The music and floor are good. The crowd is a mix of young and old. There are always people to dance with! I highly recommend Atomic Ballroom if you’re in Orange County!

Hi Brian, thank you for taking the time to put together all of this useful information. I am checking out places around Long Beach. Atomic that is one of the one that you recommend have a lot of classes, but I don’t see any that says East Coat Swing, which one would you recommend for a total beginner?

The other option that I see is Old Towne Swing, that only offer “All Levels Lindy Hop & Fundamentals”
I was wondering which one of them would be better to start. In my experience, the group lessons prior to events are not the best, there is no much that one can learn. The series lessons are better but Pasadena is too far, specially at that time of the day when the traffic is the worst.
Thanks for your help :)

Sol
Hi Sol,
I would start with Atomic’s “Intro to Swing Dancing” class.
Yeah, group lessons before the class are not ideal, but if you’re just starting out I think they have value too. I would give the Old Towne Swing lessons a try, then move when you think those lessons are too easy.
And, importantly, go social swing dancing often!
Best,
Brian
Hi Brian, thanks for replying. I will give them a try for sure! And yes, social dancing is a must 😊. Thank you!!
