Bob Wills Birthday Ball & Movie

With influences from blues, honky tonk, jazz and polka, Western Swing music creates a swingin’ beat that is both danceable and listenable.

Celebrating Bob Wills’ 120th birthday, Stellar Shows presents a Western swing celebration featuring two of the hottest bands performing in this swing genre: Southwest Biscuit Co. and West of Texas. Snakebite Sven will be our DJ.

The Southwest Biscuit Co. is everything that is good about Western swing, retro jazz and big band orchestras. Whether it’s an original number or a classic cover song, the band evokes memories of Bob Wills and Hank Penny with all the right rhythms, correct vocal inflections – and tasty licks on their solos. SWB was nominated for an Ameripolitan Award recently.

West of Texas has raised a lot of ruckus lately with the release of their highly-touted album, Hot Motel Nights, with an accompanying video that features bandleader Jerry Zinn, who was nominated for Ameripolitan Western Swing Group in 2024. Zinn’s band recently opened for Dale Watson’s December show at Campus JAX.

PLUS – Experience the Birth and History of Western Swing with the exclusive LA screening of the movie by that name, prior to the Birthday Ball.

Starting at 2 pm, the well-produced and compelling film will be shown on the 2 large hi-def screens onstage at Campus JAX.

At 75 minutes, the film covers all aspects of the genre with in-depth history, plenty of music and many celebrity comments.
