CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER

Coast to Coast SHAKE-OUT
A coast to coast shindig w/ 3 Ameripolitan bands!

East Coast meets West Coast in this Rockabilly Rhythm & Blues spectacular at Campus JAX.
The three performers are all Ameripolitan veterans.

The Hi-Jivers won the 2023 Ameripolitan Rockabilly Band category, and both Abby Girl and Saudia Young are female nominees in the rockabilly category, and both are performing with their bands.
The Hi-Jivers and Saudia Young are both East-coasters, and we are flying them in to give you a live look at the great scene going on back there.

About the Hi-Jivers:
The Hi-Jivers are a 4 piece Rock n’ Roll / Rhythm and Blues band that play music inspired by the 50s and 60s, but modernized with their passionate and wild originals.
Vocalist Dawna Zahn is a powerhouse soulful singer who has the dynamic ability to resurrect her favorite blues artists like Howlin’ Wolf and Big Mama Thornton with ease. She is accompanied by her husband Austin John whose talent shows the maturity of a well seasoned blues guitarist, but with the sting of an explosive rock n’ roller. They’ve already had the pleasure of performing all over the world including many cities in the U.S. and many countries in Europe.
The band won an Ameripolitan Music Award in 2023 and have been featured in Vintage Guitar Magazine and Blue Suede News magazine. They’ve been compared to modern artists such as JD McPherson, Nikki Hill, GA-20, Imelda May, Delta Bombers, Big Sandy & Fly-Rite Boys etc.

About Saudia Young:
Saudia Young is a New York-born actress & Americana Noir singer with caramel whiskey-drenched vocals and a sassy storytelling style.

Her “Americana Noir” blends Bo Diddley-infused rhythm & blues, rockabilly & dark cabaret. Young released her 7″ single ‘Noir Rockabilly Blues’ produced by Lars Vegas-DE featuring ‘The Wobble’ on the A and Iggy Pop’s ‘Lust for Life’ on the B side in 2017, followed up by her 12” debut ‘Unlovable’ in 2018. The LP was recorded live at Berlin, Germany’s legendary Lightning Recorders, combining beloved covers with originals: ‘Unlovable,’ ‘Violence,’ ‘Chicks Go Crazy,’ ‘Blind’ and ‘Let’s Pretend.’ Young’s vocal performance and storytelling style bring vintage sounds into modern times.

About Abby Girl & The Real Deal:
Abby Girl has thrilled audiences at Viva Las Vegas, Nashville Boogie, Doheny Blues Festival, Viva East, and many more.

She has shared stages with artists including Wanda Jackson, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Deke Dickerson, James Intveld, Los Straightjackets, Junior Watson, Kid Ramos, and others. She performed at the 2021 Summer Jamboree in Senigallia, Italy.

One prominent reviewer writes Abby Girl “is blessed with an impressive voice, which echoes Patsy Cline…a vintage sound that will also appeal to fans of early country music or rock’n’roll.”

Abby Girl will be introducing a new band lineup at this show – and the results are going to be quite special. Abby Girl does not cut corners when it comes to recruiting the top players in the business, and this new Real Deal ensemble is no exception.

About the Venue: Campus JAX

“Newport Beach’s only supper club”, Campus JAX features cabaret-style shows with dining, dancing, and seating at tables or the bar in an intimate listening room.

Christopher Burkardt’s Stellar Shows (some of you may remember their shows at Don the Beachcomber) puts on a good number of Swing-danceable bands there every month. There is a large stage and good dance floor.

It is a supper club so a purchase is required, but there is no drink minimum. Food is Cajun/Creole and gets an impressive four-and-a-half stars on Yelp. Dinner prices range from $10-$18. Of course, there’s also a full bar.

They put out multiple water tanks for dancers. Everybody has a seat – but you need not stay in your seats!
