Live music returns to Grand Central Market! Join us every Friday starting at 6 PM for an evening of live music, entertainment and drinks. This week Strada Swing, a jazz band from California, celebrates traditional swing music with a very French twist for your enjoyment.
Featuring Frank Petrilli on accordion, Ray Bergstrom on guitar, and Felix Kochendörfer and perhaps a special guest on clarinet…It’ll be fun!
Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles is probably the best and most famous food hall in Los Angeles, and definitely worth going to even if there is no Swing band playing there. But when there is Swing dancing there, it’s pretty awesome.
In the past, premium bands such as Jonathan Stout and His Campus Five Featuring Hilary Alexander, The California Feetwarmers, and the Vignes Rooftop Revival have played there.
Floor is smooth concrete and surprisingly danceable.
The number of dancers that shows up varies depending on the band and on how well the event was publicized. The turnout was great for Jonathan Stout. Other times, it’s BYOP.
There is a parking garage, or sometimes I park in the surface lot across 3rd Street.
Dance, eat, then check out Angels Flight just across the street for your “La La Land” moment. But please do buy food there and tip the band! Do NOT just show up, dance, and leave! – Brian
