These are America’s Most Wanted – and it’s a chance to see several of your favorite swing bands in one big show.
Three gangs featuring the infamous
James Intveld, Dave Stuckey &
Shorty Poole battle it out on the Campus JAX stage – with a larger dance floor and great grub.
James Intveld grew up soaking in the music he heard his parents playing at home, like Dean Martin, Buddy Holly, Rick Nelson and Elvis. James started singing and playing guitar at the age of 8, and has morphed over the years into a force in the music scene, having played with Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Blasters and the Mavericks, all the while fronting his own bands like the Swing Sinners and the Honky Tonk Palominos. He has enjoyed a 28-year run of European tours, which is still going strong today.
Dave Stuckey has enjoyed a wild musical safari from teenage punk-rock fandom to contemporary participation in half a dozen genre-jumping bands. He leads not just the Hot House Gang but several other bands playing music as diverse as western swing, vintage Hawaiian and hot jazz.
Shorty’s Swingin’ Coconuts is a tiki supergroup that specializes in steel guitar exotica, swingin’ instrumentals and surf music performed by veterans of the hula-billy scene. Their music is perfect for a swinging dance show like this one.
Spinning vintage vibes is our DJ Vintage Pete starting at 4PM sharp.
Campus JAX has state-of-the-art sound and lighting with pristine acoustics, unobstructed sight lines, dance floor and VIP seating with a 4-star menu and fast service.
Free parking, All ages.

“Newport Beach’s only supper club”, Campus JAX features cabaret-style shows with dining, dancing, and seating at tables or the bar in an intimate listening room.
Christopher Burkardt’s Stellar Shows (some of you may remember their shows at Don the Beachcomber) puts on a good number of Swing-danceable bands there every month. There is a large stage and good dance floor.
It is a supper club so a purchase is required, but there is no drink minimum. Food is Cajun/Creole and gets an impressive four-and-a-half stars on Yelp. Dinner prices range from $10-$18. Of course, there’s also a full bar.
They put out multiple water tanks for dancers. Everybody has a seat – but you need not stay in your seats!
