Live Music Returns to the Fairfax Farmers Market… And a Lot of It Is Danceable!
In a welcome sign that things are truly opening up, the Original Farmers Market on Fairfax in mid-city Los Angeles has announced their “Summer Sounds on the Plaza” series with acts performing on Thursdays and Fridays 5-7PM from May 27 through June 25th.
Two of the local dance scene’s favorite bands will be performing: Dave Stuckey and the Hot House Gang on Friday, May 28th, and the California Feetwarmerson Thursday, June 24th. So mark your calendars! I predict that a lot of L.A. Swing dancers will show up for those shows!
While not well known in the Swing dance scene, a few other bands are danceable as well. Abby Girl & the Real Deal is a 50’s rockabilly band, definitely danceable! The Otis Hayes Jazzy Trio is indeed jazzy, but seems to have some danceable songs (they don’t have a lot of material online). If you really want to push the limits, then you can dance to the cover band Guilty Pleasure Makers, performing rock hits spanning 50 years (they do a great cover of “Rock This Town”, but play mostly mainstream rock music).
Unlike previous years, the bands will be performing in front of Clock Tower instead of inside the market area. After dancing at the new location for Dave Stuckey, I can say this is much better than the old! There’s more room and the surface is smooth cement.
See you there! – Brian

As far as I’m concerned, most rock covers are danceable! :-)
Haha, I like your attitude!

So pleased you are emphasizing danceable. We are swing dancers. We’ll be there and bring our friends!
