6′ by 8′ O’Mara Sprung Dance Floor (Almost) Free (SOLD)

UPDATE: This dance floor is now sold.

During the COVID lockdown, we purchased this amazing top-of-the-line O’Mara sprung dance floor to practice Lindy & Balboa at home, as well as to do workouts. It got us through the pandemic!

Now that things have opened up, we no longer need it, so I’d like to pass it along to someone else who can use it. It would be great for a small home fitness room, dance studio, restaurant, or bar.

Dimensions are 6′ wide by just over 8′ long, not counting the width of the ramps, which are included for three sides.

It’s in excellent condition, never stepped on with outdoor shoes. Maple wood with urethane finish; great feel for dances like Swing, Salsa, etc. Has some “give” due to the foam pads on the bottom to save your knees.

Includes all original hardware, tools, and manuals.

Cost was $1750 new, but I’m looking to sell it for just $100. Why not give it away for free? Well, I want to make sure it goes to someone who can really use it, and not someone who will just store it in a garage. It’s too good for that!

Must be local and able to pick up. The largest section is 4′ square, so you’ll need a truck or minivan.

Please leave a comment below if you’re interested! – Brian

p.s., I know I haven’t been out dancing in a few months… Unfortunately, I broke my foot pretty badly so I was out of commission. I’m hoping to get back out there soon!

Hi Brian!

I’d love to buy the floor. I’ve always wanted to have a dance floor surface to practice on in between classes.

I’m so sorry to hear that you injured your foot. That sounds really painful. Plus, it’s emotionally painful to sit out dancing for several months, as many of us have had to due to injuries.

Kay
PS. I’m not sure if I will be reliably notified via email from this website, so please email me at [email protected]. I’ll also reach out to the email address I have for you and send you my cell phone number. Thanks!

Hi Brian,

And good morning. I saw your post last night, and I fell asleep, giving it a lot of thought. Upon awakening one of my friends, whom I had spoken about taking that leap of faith, reached out and asked me if I was gonna make an offer.

But before I ask for your consideration
I want to express my deepest care for your foot injury. Feet injuries take a long time to bounce back from, they require an enormous amount of patience and adaptation, mentally physically and emotionally. My heart goes out to you at this time of recovery and I wish for the best and the most speediest recovery so that you could get back to doing what you love.

In addition, I want to thank you for such a generous proposition in reaching out to the general public like myself, given that we do not know each other personally. That is very gracious of you.

I am glad that you were able to find some relief during the lockdown of the pandemic. I’m glad that investing on a dance floor proved to be a good move for you and your family. The minute we were shut down I invested in a spin bike and a big EON JBL concert speaker. If you know what these are, you know that they are so loud out they can wake up the dead.🤣

Brian, at this time I would like to be considered for this amazing opportunity to acquire your beloved dance floor.

Let me first share with you my eligibility to meet your basic requirements

I live in Los Angeles County and would be happy to drive even hours to pick this up. I do have a truck and I have the manpower to assemble.

And yes, it will be used. Not only will it be used by me, but I will be extending an invitation to invite others in my local community of the geographic area of Reseda , San Fernando Valley , to participate in the art of dancing in my fitness/yoga/ broadcasting/photography and now the possibility of a Dance Studio.

In addition, I will be sharing it with a young couple with a brand new baby who are struggling right now to make ends meet and offering them the opportunity to use this dance floor and my broadcasting studio for their use in teaching classes.

Secondly, I would like to share my story as to why this opportunity to become the owners of your dance floor be the answer to a prayer.

You see, I have been saying for many many years if “I died dancing know that I’ve died happy”.

And though I am 65 years old and just now taking my first dance lessons and I am on my second series at the Pasadena Ballroom Dance Association learning East Coast swing, I have been dancing since the age of 12 in different capacities beginning with middle school dance team. I have been winging dance my whole life. Of course it’s helpful to be Colombian and have it in my blood and DNA the ability to have rhythm yet I dance through my heart and through my soul, I just learned a few months ago that women start with the right foot. LOL🤦🏻‍♀️

But nonetheless, I have loved and shared my love for dancing throughout my entire life. I share this with you because I want you know upfront that I am not a professional nor a serious and dedicated amateur.

But I do have a heart center drive to start a nonprofit organization that provides dance opportunities to individuals primarily in the city of Reseda, which is where I live, and extending out to the nearby communities for the sake of mental and physical well-being

You see, the pandemic put me on this path into the wellness industry. Prior to the pandemic I was a full-time boudoir photographer that specialized in women’s – everyday women’s photography but Covid shut me down.

And in the proceeding 10 years I had developed a genre of photography called Phototherapy ®️, which was incorporating an intimate portrait session with a self-care program that I had creatively crafted based on my own personal life‘s journey.

Within three months just like the rest of us I too was falling into depression. The isolation and the loneliness was I’m sure as you know excruciating. I have been blessed to live in a part of Reseda that’s called Reseda Ranch. This area are large pieces of property zoned for farm animals. While sitting out in my backyard / park lamenting how much I wanted to get to Paramahansa Yogananda ‘s temple and walk the grounds I heard an inspiring voice. It said “put your love for humanity before your fear of being judged and scrutinized”. Teach.

Though, I was was Yoga Teacher certified two years prior to COVID I had no intention to ever teach, I was deathly afraid of public speaking. I only became teacher certified to become a better student of yoga.

One thing led to another, and I started teaching yoga for free in my community to my neighbors in my 1/2 acre backyard. I advertised it in the Buy Nothing Project for my local Reseda neighborhood. Then I started offering STEP classes winging it based on my personal journey towards well-being.

Another destiny turn took place and I reached out to my STEP mentor asking her for a recommendation to get STEP certified. I remember her words saying to me “don’t bother , if you’re going to get certified go to the top” she text me a link I clicked on the link, six months later I was certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Group Fitness instructor. Six months later, I began teaching a Golds Gym and at a local yoga studio. In the meantime, my photography studio was turned and flipped into a full-blown fitness and broadcasting studio, where I would zoom STEP & Yoga classes around the world.

During the pandemic, I immersed myself in the wellness industry, surrounded by some of the top wellness mentors of our country. In the four years of the pandemic, I now have six acronyms after my name, various certifications that specialize from Group Fitness to the role that movement plays in mental wellness. In addition, specializations of the degenerative and aging process for human beings and the role that movement has in preventing and reversing these conditions.

Seniors are considered ages 65+ but there is an age group that is not being serviced and that is the group 50 to 65 years of age in our society. And in my opinion, the age when the hormones start their decline is 50 and this is when the degenerative process begins at 65 and takes a downhill slope.

I share this because I want to emphasize why I’d like to be considered for your dance floor.

There is a statement that resonates with me to my very core

“Wellness is not just for the Wealthy“.

And as a result of this core belief for me last month, I produced a dance class event in my local community to promote the love of Dance for the sake of mental and physical well-being.

I am also partnering with organizations that share my vision to foster wellness opportunities to the local community for the sake of strengthening and creating resilience within the local community. These partnerships with other local outreach communities will provide these dance opportunities that I am producing to people in need for either a few dollars investment or subsidized.

You see Dance is extremely helpful and has been proven scientifically to help people with dementia, depression, anxiety, Parkinson’s, neurological and balance issues in addition to diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular issues.

But what drives me to offer Dance programs to people is to encourage them to get out into their communities, get out and meet and connect and collaborate and create communities among each each other to disprll the loneliness and the isolation that is holding our nation hostage. Loneliness and isolation are a big deal.

Dancing is something that could help people disassociate for a short, long enough time to help them rewire their self efficacy towards their own personal well-being..

I have had people reach out to me that are encouraging me to continue producing these dance events for the sake of community. I have started the process of creating a 501 C3 a nonprofit organization that will bring Dancing to the general public to those specifically who cannot afford it.

Currently, I’m partnering with my local city Council, my local Parks And Rec’s to bring these opportunities to the West valley. Here in the West Valley we do not have the resources for East Coast swing.

Your dance floor would initially be installed in my Fitness studio. It will be used for private clients in my studio and for dance practices for me and others in my neighborhood. I realize it’s a small dance floor, but at least it will get us started.

Thank you for your consideration of selling this much cared for tool.
