Swingtronic at the Airliner Abruptly Ending After this Saturday
In surprising and disappointing news, Swingtronic founder Marshall Watson informed me that this Saturday’s Swingtronic, featuring Danny Jonokuchi & The Revisionists, will be the last time Swingtronic is at the Airliner.
“The venue is being sold and they will not be doing live music upstairs any longer”, Marshall explained.
The owners informed Marshall last Friday. “We’re still in shock, to be honest”, he said.
Swingtronic featured some of the most popular jazz bands in the Swing dance scene in an upscale vintage environment. The venue features a large curved Art Deco bar downstairs with a dance floor upstairs and lots of outdoor space to cool off as well.
Swingtronic moved to the Airliner in July of 2021. It was one of my personal favorite places to go Swing dancing. Much like Swingtronic’s previous home, Pour Vous, I felt like the Airliner really transported you back to a different era. I liked how “Dapper and Dolled” dress was requested to keep the vintage ambiance authentic.
What’s Next for Swingtronic?
Marshall is looking for a new venue. So, if you know of a great venue for Swingtronic, please mention it in the comments below!
Let’s Send It Out with a Bang!
Since this will be the last chance to dance at Swingtronic while it’s at the Airliner, let’s give it an appropriate sendoff. Tell your friends to come out, and let’s make it a night to remember! See you there! – Brian
POST-EVENT UPDATE:
Marshall has since announced that he has found a new location for Swingtronic in March. We can’t wait to find out where it will be. Stay tuned!
